After announcing his decision to float a new political outfit, Swami Prasad Maurya on Tuesday resigned from the primary membership of the Samajwadi Party.

While the letter of leaving SP has been sent to party president Akhilesh Yadav this morning and thereafter Swami sent his resignation letter to the chairman of the Legislative Council.

Yesterday, Swami Prasad Maurya had attacked Akhilesh Yadav , after the SP President categorically stated that people join his party to take political benefits. Swami immediately replied that he will leave all the benefits given by SP.
Swami on Monday launched a new political outfit named Rashtriya Shoshit Sanaj Party with a new flag. He is slated to address a rally at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi on February 22.
Swami Prasad Maurya had recently resigned from the post of National General Secretary of the party, alleging neglect in SP. He had said in his letter to Akhilesh Yadav that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Dr Ram Manihar Lohia were in favor of social justice and had given the slogan of 85 versus 15. But, Samajwadi Party is continuously making this slogan ineffective.
Trying to minimise the impact of the resignation of Swami from the party post, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had commented that it was a party affair and it will be solved amicably.
Swami had been in news for criticising Sanatan Dharma particularly Ramcharitmanas due to which several cases were registered against him in different police stations of the state.
Swami’s daughter Dr Sanghamitra Maurya is BJP MP from Badaun.
